[ Appeared in The Herald, 21st September] A cheeky new year courtesy of Frimley's consultants

THE WI ladies were the first to bare all and now the men from Frimley Park Hospital have raised the saucy calendar stakes. Nine consultants, two physiotherapists and an A&E nurse have generously de-robed for our good cause in a ‘Calendar Girls’ style offering. The Doctors Uncovered Calendar 2005 will go on sale in October, with the proceeds going to the KatCanDo charity, the Frimley Appeal for cancer patients. The charity was set up in March by Kate Coles and her friends and medical associates to provide funds for the treatment of cancer patients under the care of Frimley Park Hospital, St. Like's Cancer Centre in Guildford, Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham, and other nearby hospitals dealing with cancer patients. Kate
herself was diagnosed with cancer of the colon last September and was so
overwhelmed by the support that she received that she wanted to raise
additional funds |

for the treatment of fellow cancer patients. So far she has organised a sponsored walk, run a stall at the Frimley Green Carnival and had a car boot sale. “I am humbled that the men all agreed to do it without
asking too many questions. I guess it’s their way of helping patients. “They
seemed to actually enjoy having the photographs taken. I think that was down to
Poppy Berry, the photographer, who put them all at ease.” Anyone
who has unwittingly exposed themselves in an undignified hospital gown will
relish the opportunity to view the Frimley Park hunks, with only strategically
placed medical equipment preserving their modesty. The Doctors Uncovered Calendar 2005 will be on sale in hospitals, surgeries, dentists and chemists. It
could be on many a woman’s Christmas wish list. |

[ Appeared in The Herald, 21st May] KatCanDo Raises £7000 for Cancer Patient Care If anyone can…KatCanDo! KatCanDo – Frimley Appeal for Cancer Patients - is the new Appeal inspired by Kate Coles and 8 friends, whose aim is to provide additional funds for the treatment of local cancer patients. Their first fund-raising event was a great success when 40 walkers, including 2-year-old James Evans and assorted dogs, took part in a 10-mile sponsored walk through the countryside from Shalford Park near Guildford. Kate says we are thrilled to have raised approximately seven thousand pounds from our first event and would like to thank all the walkers and their sponsors. It’s only 2 months since we decided to set up the Appeal. Dr Hassan Massouh, Consultant Radiologist at Frimley Park Hospital has agreed to be our Medical Representative and he and his colleagues will be letting us know how they would like the money we raise to be spent. More fund-raising events have been planned, including a stall at the Frimley Green Carnival and a website will be launched soon.
